Beautiful Silly Clowns
I’m writing this sitting at the kitchen table (subtle I Capture the Castle reference) while the boys draw pirates with dot-a-dot markers. And yes, I should have known that the markers probably wouldn’t stay on the paper only, but I just looked up from typing that first sentence to find Fritz with one blue dot on his nose and one on each cheek, and Lars swiftly copying him with three markers at once. I had a briefish moment of wondering if I should just let them keep drawing on their faces with the non-toxic, fruity-smelling markers before grabbing a wet rag and telling them to go back to drawing on the paper.
“But Mom! Then we won’t be as beautiful anymore!”
Why the brief-ish moment? Seems like kind of a rookie mom move, but last time we had the markers out, Fritz very carefully put a dot on his nose and Lars’s nose and proudly announced,
“I am a beautiful silly clown!”
and then he put on a sparkly gold cape and glittery Minnie Mouse ears he pulled out of the dress up box and wore them to the neighborhood ice cream party.
Basically what I'm saying is who wouldn't want a repeat of this cuteness?
And this cuteness?
Well, we can’t exactly repeat magical moments, but we get new ones every day, and check out these incredibly beautiful, silly clowns.
And now for more quotes from the week.
“Hey MOM! Can we make cewkies?”
I love the way Lars says cookies. He draws the o out so long and adorably, and it basically always gets him more cookies.
The boys at the flour mill
“Mom, I want brown eyes, like you.”
Hands down the most heartbreaking quote of the week. I love Larsje’s eyes so much. He’s our little forget-me-not-blue-eyed-blondie and it feels like a miracle to me that I, I, could have a little blue-eyed boy. I’ve been singing him lots of songs about blue eyes since his confession.
The Children's Museum continues to be a big hit with both boys
“Mom, I wish our toilet had a big pillow. Could we find a big pillow toilet online?”
I mean on the one hand, I feel a little bad even writing this one up, but it was so hilarious I think I laughed for five minutes straight. He was so earnest about it, so curious about where we could find a pillow toilet. Obviously, we don’t need to share the fact that they kind of, sort of exist (ew, gross).
